V1304 is the first and only real time MPEG4 AVC / MPEG4
Part-10 / AVC / H.264 Encoder available on the
market. It implements H.264 / MPEG-4 AVC video compression and G.722 compression for
audio in real time. This new standard has much higher
compression ratio, yet higher picture quality compared to standard MPEG4.
At the same video quality, the bit rate is about 40% lower than MPEG4-ASP.
The perfect synchronization of audio and video ensures that it can be used
in many applications. The V1304 is mainly intended for the CCTV DVR and
Video Surveillance market but can also be used in Distance Learning and
Video Streaming applications.
With the embedded encoder SW, 4 video and 4 audio streams can be encoded
simultaneously in real time. All parameters for each channel can be set or
adjusted independently. The A/V streams are fed into the memory of the
video display adapter directly without consuming any CPU MIPS. You can fit
as many V1304 boards as you have available PCI slots in your machine.
The V1304 is supported under Windows and RedHat 8 and 9 Linux. We do not give
out source code for the drivers. For support of other Linux versions,
please contact us.

DSP Research provides with SDKs to minimize your development cost when
you develop your own V130x software to suit your particular needs. The
following SDKs are currently available from DSP Research:
 | Encoder SDK |
 | Decoder SDK |
 | Net SDK |
DSP Research also provides with demo applications that uses the SDKs.
The source code for some of these applications has been included in the
V130x Board Support Package (V130x-BSP) to get you started 'on the
fly' and further decrease your development time. The following demo
applications are currently provided by DSP Research:

V130x FAQ section |
 | The V130x board is mainly intended for surveillance market and
low resolution applications. Below follow some samples on how the V130x, H.264 Encoder, can be used in a complete system for different
applications
|
 | Since the system layer of H.264 is not standardized, decoders from
other vendors will not be able to decode the bit stream generated by the
V130x encoder. |
 | The video compression algorithm used in V130x encoder performs
at its best for low bit rate video applications. This is due to the DSP
MIPS limitation of the Philips PNX1301 DSP that is currently used on the
V130x board. Thus the V130x is not suitable for high quality
video applications such as broadcasting. Please see our high-end
products for this purpose. |
